Love the Welding Program.
I'll add more to this later, but for now. All I can say is you really need to research what professors are actually there to help. Many don't give the slightest Damn what you learn, and put forth the bare minimum of effort. Some simply just say "it's all online." When asked a question. That being said, the Shasta college online "canvas" is abysmal. It is over complicated, and hard to navigate, and in short not user friendly.
The Finacial Aid is dismal and those like myself in the " grey area" do not get any help at all. DSPS is the only program that truly helps me accomplish my goals.
Suzy klitgaard.
They are quick to ticket you if you park with out a pass. I'd understand it if they didn't have whole open parking. If you don't pay or don't know they will make sure the DMV knows and this will result in withholding your registration if you don't have enough to pay the exorbitant CA prices + a $60 fee. So a school will go beyond education to get monies from you. Next they will check credit scores, lol.
They just want your money it's disgusting, they should be ashamed of themselves.
Don't trust admissions and records when they tell you anything. They lied about having my husband's transcripts so we were delayed money for over 2 weeks. They misplaced his transcripts how unprofessional. Finally got it sorted out due to us calling. And if you're planning on going to the fire academy here, don't. My husband missed 3 questions on a test but got a 82% over all on it and was forced to fail out since he is a vet we didn't want to drop and pay back the money. Keep in mind he was about 2 and a half weeks from graduation when we were told he wasn't graduating even with a B in the class which is required. We spent well over $1000 for this and you can be completely out of shape and still not fail out. I personally would rather have someone who missed a couple questions on a test drag me out of a burning building then have someone who needs one of their own co workers drag me and them out together since they weren't physically capable to
They are only good as a very brief stop over.
I have to take each Semester at a time to see if I can make my finances work.
Advisers are often unhelpful and more importantly hard to get a hold of. They often cancel classes when they don't have enough students. This can set a person back for more than 1 semester, which is terrible. An adviser plans out your classes and expects you to be there for 1-2 semesters, then the school (only caring about money?) cancels your pre-req to 3 other classes.
The often will wait to tell you that the VA doesn't accept a class putting you book payment and monthly payments behind.
